What I Did

During my internship as an Imports Transit Agent in order to obtain my BA in International Business, I was responsible for overseeing the entire logistics and customs clearance process for imported goods. I coordinated shipments from various international suppliers, ensuring that all documentation—such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and certificates of origin—was accurately completed and submitted on time. I ensured full compliance with customs regulations, including tariff classifications, duties, and VAT requirements.

I worked closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and suppliers to track the progress of shipments, proactively resolving any delays or issues related to customs holds or logistical setbacks. This involved frequent communication with different stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely transit of goods from point of origin to destination.

This role allowed me to develop advanced organizational skills, with a focus on managing multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously. I also gained a solid understanding of international trade regulations, import procedures, and the importance of maintaining efficient communication between all parties involved to minimize disruptions and ensure timely delivery.

Memories

First time I saw a cargo plane. They look bigger in person than they do in this picture 🛩️.
I witnessed the moment in which the aircraft tugs were taking the craft from the runway to the hangar.
Cover page of the internship report I wrote in order to graduate back in September 2022.
This was the view from the warehouse. Cargo planes would land right in front of it 😍.
